Daisy, sitting on a grave

Dave

In it.

Chatting away about the things of the day

Her crimson scarf held tight

Under her chin.

 

She’s staring into the distance

At an unseen point

Far away

Convinced he’s listening

Well

As much as he ever did

Hid

Behind a copy of The Mirror`.

 

“Glad’s gorn, Stan last month, and Deidre’s not long for this world

But I’m alright

Fine really.”

She’s still staring

Far out.

 

“Well the stew won’t cook itself, oh,

And the cat says, `hello`”

She chuckles,

He hated that cat

And broke his toe

Whilst missing a kick.

 

 

Last night

As she lay tight, under white sheets and a grey duvet

She wondered why she went;

Heaven sent reality

This aloneness.

 

Waking up

And the first thought told it;

She went once a week

Just to make sure

He was still there;

She hiccoughs

At naked honesty

And devil may care.

Really liked your graveyard poem. It is often hard to let go and we visit our loved one's memorials and talk to them because is is easier on our hearts to believed they still here. 

I work   at a local cemetery. One day my parents were visiting one of our relations while I was at work. I saw them there and called out "Hi!" Unfortunately they had just said hello to our late relation so it sounded as though the response was coming from beyond the grave, so to speak. 

You captured losing a loved one very well.
