For Skye

 

Spring Skies (After the Dogs of Winter)

Winter months since passed,

spring promises warmer days,

bee-silk daffodils sing ballads,

cherry blossoms quiet hymns.

 

Seasons turn, time meanders,

canine memories fade to dust,

your black and white ghost

running in the eternal mist.

 

We climbed the ancient Tor

to look down on the Levels,

one man and his sheepdog,

sentries of age-old Avalon.

 

Pale blue skies like paintings

hung as metaphors of renewal,

unseasonal snows scattering,

melting on dank, warm earth.

 

I watch the orange-red hue

of this evening sun setting,

casting shadows across trees,

silhouettes calling for twilight.

 

Listless light of longer hours

beckons our new beginnings,

reveries from another life

replaced by dreamless nights.

Sincerely = your a great story teller/reader... I wana evolve into that at some point.

In the mean time; I'm there soaking it in, professional lounge lizard style, head phones, lounge jammy's, a glass of fine red, feet, tilted back soak'n it all in.......

If you get a chance, you really *must* visit Glastonbury Tor, Rhiannon. When you get to the summit, there's nowhere more beautiful, peaceful and spiritual.

Ah thanks very much, Jane. I wanted to write about the changing season but had to weave in a goodbye to my wonderful dog. Memories is all we are left with in the end (along with 4 cats in my case) :)

This is beautiful marandina - and like you say, Skye will always be there in your memory. I still sometimes see my dog (long gone) out of the corner of my eye. I'm sure you will too
