(Teeth Tales) Smiling Underpants

When my father was older he had to get dentures and he hated to wear his lower dentures and never did, unless it was absolutely necessary, like when he needed to eat. So he kept them wrapped up in a pristine handkerchief nestled in his pants pocket until he had to pop them into his mouth.
One time my parents had gone out to dinner and so of course he had to put the hated things in, but after dinner he wrapped them back into his handkerchief and placed them into his pants pocket. Once they got home my dad’s usual routine was to rinse them and pop them into a fizzy glass of teeth cleaner but this night he’d forgotten about them, and so they stayed in his pants pocket through the night.
The next morning, still hidden in the pants, they were dropped into the laundry hamper and carried to the laundry room. There they took a spin in the wash cycle and lastly ended up in the dryer, to be fluffed and dried.
When my mom emptied the dryer she nearly jumped a foot high seeing my father’s underpants smiling at her. ![]()

I can just imagine to
I can just imagine to expression of surprise and shock on your mums face when she caught sight of the dentures.
I hope they survived the ordeal for your dad's sake.
Jenny.

Smiling Underpants.
Re. "...they took a spin in the wash cycle..."
Most likely a very slow spin kept dad's teeth smiling. High speed a grim grimace.
Thanks for posting your toothy memory.
Ps. Still time to post another for the tooth fairy to view
Regards.

That's funny, Penny. It's so
That's funny, Penny. It's so easily done too. Last summer I put my phone into the washing machine and it underwent part of a cycle, came out dripping wait but somehow survived. His teeth were nice and clean at least and hopefully not bent out of shape.

Hot wash
Years ago, my teenage daughter did the same with her precious iPod (not iPad). It was destroyed and she was devastated. So for her eighteenth birthday I bought her a new one. By purchasing it direct from the Apple website I was able to get a free inscription engraved on it. The Apple people's suggested incriptions were all soppy words of love and tenderness but I ignored those and went for...
Do not hot wash. Do not tumble dry.

Lovely story, Penny! Thank
Lovely story, Penny! Thank goodness the teeth survived intact, and it was only your mother's nerves which were shredded.
Thanks for entering the competition!
