Lethowsow, The Drowned Land

You will drown as you dream of me,
a lost land that still demands sacrifice.
I am not your soft, spoiled meadows
under the dreaming crystal meres,
but a landscape of rage barely chained
you will never know or reckon with.
Under the sea, my green land remaining,
frozen under ten thousand tides
that have passed since I died.
Unmapped, I abide between shore
and the unknown horizon.
Exactly as I last drew breath, my turrets,
dykes and spires point to the sky
no longer known to me.
I secretly allow your dream eyes
to uncover my contours.
In your changed tongue
I am the unblessed Lyonesse
calling out to you,
a want you cannot express,
the breathless life from
a deep lost time.
Once I was under the sun,
now I have the whole weight
of the ocean upon me.
But the water could not
dilute the grief or dissolve
the sin that left me here.
I envy the air in your lungs,
the sunlight that heals you,
my silence seeping into your mind
as a lure to tempt you
to unbidden depths.
Lethowsow, I am,
home of the deep drowned,
that does not need
the burden of your care.
