Silent sounds IP

Very evocative this, Pia, as evocative, possibly, as the piece of music the narrator is listening to. I loved these lines, especially:- "My mind starts to wander over the plains The wind touching the tall grass Pilgrim footsteps, imprints on the New World Wagons driven by strength and will..." An excellent take on this week's IP. Tina;-)

I think this describes very well the way in which Classical music transports you to another place with its landscapes of sound. I particularly liked: "The majestic spaces- wide open Pioneer country" and "My mind starts to wander over the plains The wind touching the tall grass Pilgrim footsteps, imprints on the New World Wagons driven by strength and will"

Hi Pia, I didn't actually know that the listener was deaf, until I read it in your comment. Like you said how wonderful to be able to hear music, but in another way, to feel the sounds. I cannot imagine being deaf, but you explain and describe the feelings so well in this piece. Congratulations on the cherries, well deserved. Jenny.

I'm glad you explained to me, Pia, about the listener being deaf because the title of the poem "Silent sounds" was puzzling me but now it all makes sense.

I was practicing my cornet - mostly jazz riffs and a few classical etudes - just before sitting down to read your exquisite poem. Enough said.

Highhat hello. I liked all of this. "...I feel the beat and rhythm in my feet In my stomach..." I know someone who puts his ears next to giant speakers at full volume. Heavy rock, not Dvorak though. Shipyard noise takes its toll after a while.

New Highhat Well deserved cherries! And a very good poem for (IP) this week. Acceptionally worked and typed out. I like stanza same as Silver-Spun-Sand mentions. Very well thought. Guess! I have a hearing aid, mean't have 2 not thanks one is enough, most ot time it is squeaking. If music noisy.Especially at church, then in the choir, I was ridiculed bit what's that noise! new Highhat Thanks for commenting, once went for Tinnitus had for few years, thought my brain gone. Wnet wrong day, found them all the deaf then room in most, so took course on signing, went for tests etc; found hearing going.Well if ever doing singing can't always hear music if loud, but do very well. Tried digit, walked out with mine, but had to stop in park and put old one back in not doing anymore of that make. Couldn't hear at all, they said takes approxiamtely 3 months get used digit. No back on old make. "Lady Ga Ga" taking up signing, I forgotten most but of it. Dr used come to deaf centre talk on tinnnitus interesting. Stress, tea coffee electric cables,shock, can cause tinnitus never heard of. Mine is going deaf too, won't go. So waits till I have taken mine out hearing aid and calls from each room, sickening, we shout how can I hear from there. So go for tests place huge ear phones on one,press buzzer every sound, they fire in noises, it works clowns the noise! Have a good week-end. julie x

new Highat And a good week to you. But went out wrong time wrong place. Wrong shoes as all were, soaked. But band playing inside, so loud to me, had turn mine down h/aid, then couldn't speak couple friend's, makes a change me be quiet. Bought lovley things, had win on cat's names, and my very very special cat? Just messing about, trying opera, watching programme, I'm messing about. Have a good week. Flooded here, and shoes sopped up, umbrella, daughter bought me, hearts and and something else on, blew inside out. From London exhibition, I didn't go just daughter and her DAD. Julie xx
