Enduring Love

Woman, while you lie beside me,
comfortable in my arms;
our older bodies know a gentler love,
the kind that can take its time.
Every day counts as a blessing,
and we know that less is more,
let’s then live and love each other,
in the remnants of our measured time.
Seeing you through the eyes of love,
I see the girl that’s always there,
and while time may trap us in memory,
the past is past – there is only here;
Until one of us is left behind,
when time itself will close the door,
one side of which will be the one bereft,
a continuance of life in memories left.
My dear the night is passing,
and the dawn is drawing near;
so, sleep on safe in my arms,
until the light becomes clear.

It's a lovely poem .. getting to that sort of age myself.
Beaten to it by Claudine, she posted at exactly the same time as me !
