May the Second 1933

It wasn't grandmother Bessie
who in 1933 sighted the monster
known by the nickname Nessie.
On the contrary, I heard they say
that it was a Mrs. Aldie Mackay,
as printed in the Courier in May.
She was the hotel manageress
who, with hubby, on a fine day,
was driving towards Inverness.
Glancing across the calm and still
waters of the nearby Loch Ness,
they experienced a sudden thrill.
John, the husband of Aldie Mackay,
heard his dear wife's excited cry
but he didn't know the reason why.
He was told she'd seen a creature
that resembled a whale-like fish
with a deepwater reptile's feature.
This is the story they'd later tell
to the Inverness Courier's reporter
and water bailiff Alex Campbell.

I walked my dog by the side
I walked my dog by the side of Loch Ness for some years Luigi, when I lived in Dores, and never once saw Nessie. What I did see though, was a thriving industry making a living out of her! A guy called Steve lived in a converted van parked on the shore and made models which he sold to mini bus loads of American tourists arriving every day. His favourite expression was God bless America!

Enjoyed this and it made me
Enjoyed this and it made me look up the story of Aldie MacKay and it is just as you say. I cycled from Inverness to Loch Ness last year and what a beautiful place.
Congratulations. It's our not so rarely sighted Pick of the Day.
