Bursting buds of brilliant stars,
carpets wafting scent afar,
startling sight of sparkling white
in April woods.

I've only ever heard the latin name, and wild garlic before - never ramsons, so thought it might be a place at first. Google put me right in the end though! Thank you for this little poem - as lovely as its namesake!

Thank you. I'm always surprised how brilliant white it is and star-like, and the lovely carpets of it. I've usually known it by the name Ramsons, but found I was getting confused about the spelling and then found it spelt wrongly in a very famous Flora — how the 'n' and 'm' get reversed ( as in 'anemone'!). Rhiannon

I have to agree those buds do look like stars. It must have been a amazing sight to behold. I'm so glad it inspired you to write this poem and share those lovely photos.

Thank you, Jenny. They are so lovely. My photos of the 'carpets' of it weren't too good, but my daughter sent me the main one in this collage yesterday where she'd got down to ground level and it seemed very effective! Rhiannon

Thanks, Dougie. I'm not into knowing what is edible and inedible I'm sorry, so used to telling the little ones not to put anything into their mouths without first asking! I think it is, but would have to check, and my husband seemed allergic to garlic and onion until recently, and my father could only take a little as jungle dirving in the war seemed to have upset his stomach. You do have to be so careful about look-alike plants in the wild don't you? Rhiannon

I just googled it Rhiannon, and yes, it is edible and good to eat and cook with - stir fry's!!!

That's so beautiful Rhiannon! Could almost smell them as I read :0) They really blaze, don't they? And the SMELL!!! That is like a creature itself, winding through the trees
