By the pricking of his thumbs,

something wicked this way comes,

he makes a speech on doing sums.

 

See the grinning little man,

he likes sums because he can

tell the diff'rence between cos and tan.

 

Do not be an arty fool.

Do your sums 'til you leave school,

and never forget the BODMAS Rule.

 

He is so pleased in large amount,

to drown us all in knowledge's fount,

we will be numerate, but will not count.

hm, I thought there were not enough Maths teachers even at the moment? He is good at decimals but misses the point.

When we do maths games I'm always being told I'm not using the BODMAS rule, or it is why I don't understand the answers in the book! My husband is an ex-Maths teacher! I don't think I was taught it in school despite going as far as Additional Maths GCSE. Rhiannon

"we will be numerate, but will not count". We do in discrete mathematics it can get very tricky.

To count without counting falls in combinatorics and then under discrete mathematics. It is unbelievable what they can do with generating functions.
