beautiful tracery
of skeletal branches on clear skies
cool blue
cloudscapes
near-sunset tinges
– back-lighting glow.

Thank you. There are very dull days,  but other days have bright skies, and I have always loved the winter tree skeletons silhouetted against a clear sky. Rhiannon

really like "cool blue / cloudscapes". There's something sculptural about January, isn't there? Like we are down to the bones of everything

That's a perceptive comment, and I guess it is why I love being drawn to notice these things that still are there to be seen, as you say honed down to the basic shape of the branches, tree trunks etc, and as the plant covering is less and weak, we notice those skyscapes on a bright day, with the feeling of cold and frost touching everything. Rhiannon

As the sky changes colour with its pallet of pale pink, blue, purple, orange and white, your poem sets the scene in such a way, that seeing those naked branches brings their beauty to life.

You are nearing the end of winter, sounds like a good prospect. We in South Africa are having general elections we're in for sports. And yes, skeletons in all the closets and worms everywhere coming out the woodwork...

Yes, spring coming for us, autumn for you. Many countries have elections looming. Some seem to take such delight in unearthing muck, and won't distinguish those who admit and are sorry for lapses with those who are just sorry they were found out. We need people of integrity! Rhiannon
