Marigold answers an ad in the paper.
Marigold walked to the post box with a spring in her step. Mmm, I wonder if my age is against me, sixty is a bit old, but if he's a decent man he won't mind that. I am mature but not too old for sex.
One week went by, but still nothing, no reply to her letter. She began to get depressed, but by the middle of the second week a letter arrived in the post. She tore it open with relish.
'I am so sorry I took so long to reply, but I had to leave for Capetown, so maybe email would be more convenient. And he promptly gave his email address Dave Peters was the man's name and he'd sent a beautiful recent photo. He nevermentioned her age at all. This is just what I am looking for. I wonder how long it will be before we can meet. She went to her laptop and wrote an email, attaching a photo from ten years ago; only a slight deception, she thought, but what the hell, this man is really hot. Marigold was smitten. She wrote about her life in the garden suburb she lived in and said how dull it had become since losing her husband a while ago.
She asked him if he'd been married before and general questions about his job and his time abroad. She clicked on SEND full of expectation. Over the next few hours she kept checking her inbox; nothing. Then, just when she was giving up, something appeared in her inbox. It was a beautiful email with another wonderful photo.

I suppose my reaction would
I suppose my reaction would be, you really need to get to know what makes this man tick. As a Christian, I know, unless someone really shared that belief and had that life, we could never pull together. Email can be a good way to clear a lot of ground, background, and talking of this and that. And if he is so far away, there is time to take things slowly! But face to face in real life reveals more deeply! Rhiannon

Sorry about your equipment
Sorry about your equipment problems, Hilary. You certainly were going to open up the gradual sliding into false assessment and relationship and the dangers of insidious scamming. So sad. How many skills and strong intellects are there involved with the 'thrill' of scamming and deceiving that could be used for such good ends — and be so much more fulfilling as well as helping others!
And of course killling herself one can understand, but apart from being wrong, again, how much good could she do if she lived, even maybe warning others. Rhiannon

Hi Hilary, that's so sad
Hi Hilary, that's so sad about your computer. I was becoming invested in this story, and so sorry it couldn't be completed.
It's a perfect warning to be aware of scams that can seem perfect. It's also a shame scams are out ther, because when there's two people that could connect, it's like the boy who cried wolf, nobody believes its real.
Hope everything gets fixed soon, it must be frustrating.
Jenny.
