Changing Course

Jason was the nephew of a bishop
and lived next to a butcher shop
near the library and the bus stop
not far from the town of Glossop.
He was pious and full of humility,
valued truth, respect, and sincerity.
His uncle told him about the Trinity
so decided he would study Divinity.
As his wont was to revel and roister
felt that his wish to join the cloister
would make him a deluded imposter,
so he knelt and said a Pater Noster.
At last he was able to see the light
but the realisation was dynamite;
knew everything would be alright
if he was ready to give up the fight.
He had no chance, let alone hope,
that someday he wouldd be Pope
(though it said so in his horoscope)
and if it happened he couldn't cope.
It was necessary to change course
and this he did do without remorse.
His ;ncle Bishop had no recourse;
had to accept the decision perforce.

indeed, rather ambitious
there was once a dilligent student at trinity
who tried understanding a third of eternity
counting how many days
boggled his brains
so he dropped math and changed to divinity

a new direction!
I must say it was rather ambitious to want to become Pope. Some people may be offended by your poem Luigi, but perhaps they are more open-minded after all. All the same, mathematics wouldn't be such a good idea.
Medicine, Law, Accounting, if you have to work I say go for the Money!
All the best! Tom
