On A December Morning

There is nothing better than a cosy warm bed
coming out of the cold of a frozen garden shed.
On a December morning, fairly soon after dawn,
I opened the cat's flap and stepped on the lawn,
covered in a white layer of what I now know
is commonly referred to as freshly fallen snow.
It was with trepidation and also some reluctance
that I dipped my paws in that unknown substance.
I felt as if my body had been hit by a massive bolt
and jumped up in the air with an unexpected jolt.
I was not even tempted to chase a running mouse
but I broke the speed record to get into the house.
Every bedroom was locked and couldn't find a bed
so in the airing cupboard I went to sleep instead.
I stayed there so long, that my people felt I was lost
and when I reappeared they thought I was a ghost.

I guess we all get out of bed
I guess we all get out of bed, eventually, but in these cold mornings, we take a little longer.

My excuse is that I'm reading this at 3am! it was at the fourth stanza that I connected with the picture and realised who the narrator wasl our own feline companion has just come dancing across 6" of frozen snow. I loved this Luigi. Look out T.S. Luigi wants your crown
