that solitude that excites the mind,
where time is of no importance;
wealth of meandering purple view
pleases senses, such miracles are
like a lovers kiss transcending all.
 
I recall many moons ago; early mist
blanketing landscape, where Scottish
heather captured wild side of this 
young temperament, adorning highland 
where clouds conveyed shadows as day
progressed.
 
Thinking back, craggy uplands inspired 
treasure of sensory impression, influenced 
vision refreshing concentration from life's
unnecessary complications.

Thank you insert, normally I type into the open office first, decided to type straight onto abc tales, but couldn't get the spacing write in the first stanza.

I still haven't been to Scotland, Jenny. It's on my list of things to do. Heather and craggy rocks, a place away from man-made complications and the inconvenience of counting time. There is nothing more valuable.

Hi Jane,

you really should go to Scotland while you're young. I went there back in the early 1970s, toured all over, getting as far as Oban where we stayed in a flat. Such a beautiful part of the world, yet I have no photos of my trip for some unknown reason...perhaps I was enjoying myself too much to take photos. wink

Any way I hope you do get to go, especially to the wild, isolated parts that are evocative of times past.

Hi Rhiannon,

glad you liked those last two lines. When I went to Scotland as a teenager, I couldn't imagine that I'd be writing about it's beauty as an older woman. Now I recall the touring we did in the car, stopping off at friendly places for overnight stays.

I love the craggy hills of Scotland with its wild purple heather. Couldn't resist writing my memories.
