Your poem is reminding me a little of Bruce Springsteen's 'The River'. The new year is like the high expectations at the beginning which turns into the river of life as the year (or life!) passes/flows. I like the imagery you have used! Happy new...
I like this poem and how it marries optimism with the regressive effects of the pandemic and decline of our health and social systems. You express the mixed feelings of entering the new year at this time! Happy New Year nonetheless!

I did enjoy your poem when I first read it before, but the music, speech, and video certainly put another slant on it! It feels like an Englishman, or Yorkshireman's take on life, matters of taste and personal choice, but even more humourous with...
This really is a great explanation and summary of what is taking place in people smuggling, and in desperate migration, and it happens not only in the English Channel but in various places around the world. As an appreciation of what so many must...
Interesting and evocative snapshot of life in Bulgaria. It sounds like it has plenty of character, and perhaps more variety or surprises than places that have been capitalist or western for longer?

I enjoyed this poem! You eloquently sum up much of what it is to become older.
