Brief Moments To Imagine

Dear diary...
living twilight years within brightness
of new days is all I need. But oh!
To wander once again down adjacent
lanes to coastal cliff tops, then along
sandy beaches would be so great...
where coolness of fresh sea air takes
my breath away.
Located on rocky plateau colours
would rise, bursting with energy,
cheerfully clambering Lizard's
precipice – flowers of:
Cornish Heath,
Magenta Hottentot Fig:
companions of White Sea Campion,
gazing out over ocean along with me
in salty summer's breeze.
I vision in my youth watching swiftness
of gulls carried across waves that hold
their own, hearing tales of winds that
whip ships of Lysardh rocks with such
unpredictable strength, so unrelenting;
yet when calm a kindred spirit lies.
But! Surrendering to thrill of travel
is now a battle I find hard to overcome,
weight of danger bores down more now
my youth is done. The seeds of doubt
have been sown, no appetite have I
to getaway...escaping pattern of routine
that nourishes confidence, a system
formula fostering care and attention
to discouraged mind:
repetition may seem tedious to some,
but moving through difficult missions;
is like climbing mountains when I'm
out of condition. Now I'd rather visualize
with creative powers, imagine searching
landscapes in breathtaking splendour;
where those ancient beautiful places
once set me free.
Cornish Heath...also known as
Wandering Heath comes from the
Ericaceae family of plants,
native flower to Cornwall.
Magenta Hottentot Fig: is a pretty
creeping species, member of
Carpobrotus edulis family of plants,
again found on Cornwall's Southern
Coast.
Sea Campion is related to the Carnation
and grows along the edges
of cliff tops in Cornwall.
Cornish Lysardh is a peninsula of
Southern Cornwall: also known as
The Lizard.

Your lovely words brought out
Your lovely words brought out the empathy in me. I struggle on with my travelling though I'll never manage the great treks and cycle rides that took me all over the place as recently as ten years ago. Wanderlust these days, I find, is not hampered only by my fitness and age but also by the difficulties arising from the the global crisis that seemed to be drawing to an end and then the new global crisis that's breating down our necks at the moment. So, trying to be positive about this, I think to myself that my problem is not all my fault ... as I pour another coffee and take another slice of cake from the tin.
Best wishes to you Jenny!
