Sense hushed switch of summer;

gradually slipping into autumn,

branches lively waltz, tossed...

shift of irresistible power,

Stirring energy generates richness of

quivering leaves as Zephyr's breezes

gather speed, propelling leafy colours

those rustic – spicy textures descend

in silence,

elegance...beauty poised upon earth,

remaining motionless, some stagnent;

rotting amongst mushroom heads that

stand composed on sidelines, legends

of faerie tales watching the caper.

Bohemian flavours harmonize, fill the

air, Twirling – sweeping – whirrling –

circling, different whimsical shapes,

numerous movements unfurrling, to

greet autumn's seasonal dance.

I'm a summer bug but you certainly love autumn capers.

Really happy you loved the poem Jack, even though you're more of a summer person.

Thank you for letting me know.

You've certainly captured Autumn beautifully and if it lives up to your poems words much to be anticipated.

I'm Team Summer too, like celticman but this is a wonderful IP response Jenny, and so nice to see you're here more often now. I hope you manage to get outside a bit too (though it's really still summer here today)

It's a pleasure to know you liked my poem insert, I couldn't resist the I P and I just needed to get a poem out before next Friday, as I know I'll be completely zonked out for five to ten days after chemo, so I'm making the most of this week.

It's so good to be reading and writing again, always a tonic that makes me happy. smiley I hope you're enjoying this late summer sunshine, I'm quite happy being indoors and spending time on the things I love doing.

Thank you for reading and I'm always grateful for your comments.

Many thanks.

Jenny.

I'm so happy you found pleasure in reading this poem Rhiannon. I've always loved autumn and been inspired by the rich colours of leaves.

As i sit here, I remember the many woodland and forest walks I've been on, and I bet you have so many happy memories of your welsh rambles across hills and countryside walks. We are lucky arn't we?

Thank you for stopping by to read and letting me know you enjoyed.

I always think spelling faerie the archaic way and including words like caper make a poem sound more mythical, and a bit of a dance brings it to life too. Here you’ve done all that, so you’ve described the fantasy celebration of autumn perfectly.

But what made me smile even more than that was seeing that you’ve written two poems in a week.

Jenny Skinner’s back! Hurroo!

Hi Turlough,

The mystery of the faeries has always fascinated me and their rich tapestry of mystery brings to life other dimensions that we cannot see, but I feel exists. I'm also happy you can imagine the fantasy that autumn produces, it's definitely a creative time of the year for me.

I just had to get a poem down before next Friday when I have the 5th chemo, because I won't be in any fit state for at least five to ten days, so I'm making the most of this week.

It's always great to hear from you and thank you for your kind words.

Jenny.

Hi Turlough,

bless you and thank you for your kind words. The chemo finally went well after about three blood tests, because my Nutra Fills weren't right, that's something to do with protection against catching infections and they wouldn't go ahead if the blood test didn't come back okay, which was a big worry as I want to keep the momentum going with the chemo.

I had so many problems getting to the hospital and ended up in tears because of the car not starting, then calling for a taxi which got stuck in traffic and not moving, but luckily the taxi driver managed to change lanes and we ended up only five minutes late, but I had to run from the entrance down the corridor, which left me so out of breath I couldn't speak and I was shaking like a leaf. But anyway all's well that ends well.

I'm typing this and feeling awake after a good night's sleep. I'll be getting tired again soon, so I'll stop typing. But thank you for thinking of me and letting me know, it's always appreciated.

Jenny. x

Hello Jenny.

I’m glad you got through the day despite the unexpected complications. I think under the circumstances I would have cried too. I hate being late for things, especially if it’s something important. I remember once getting stuck in the Bristol traffic and having to drive at 110 mph down the M5 to get to a speeding awareness course on time.

And I always thought Nutra Fills were a chocolatey nutty energy snack.

Enjoy the tranquil after the storm. You certainly deserve it. x

Ah! Many thanks for such a great comment Ray. I just couldn't resist the I P this week, it was right up my street and inspired me.

If you could imagine being a leaf caught on the breeze, then I feel happy that this poem worked for you.

It's always great when the muse comes and exciting when a poem comes together. Thank you again for your thoughts Ray, they keep me going and are such a tonic, as are other readers on abc tales.

Bless you Ray, I'm over the moon your're reading this story. It seems so long ago when I wrote Blue Bird, I'd completely forgotton about it. Hope it lives up to expectation, though it's not my usual writing, but I suppose it was at the time.

I will check out your comments and get back to you.

I'm still reading your story by the way and enjoying.

I love the way you've described autumn as bohemian because I think as a season, it really would want to be called that. Rich and a bit wild, mushrooms too. Rustic spicy textures makes me think of the forest. It's a captivating season with a tinge of sadness - another summer over. Inspiring poem Jenny.

Hi Jane,

you know I've always seen autumn as a Bohemian time of year. I recall a few poems I've written in the past where I've mentioned the Bohemian colours which I so love.

You've captured exactly what I was trying to portray and I agree autumn is captivating with a tinge of sadness, but also that period when everything has a chance to rest before spring comes and repeats the growing season once again.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my poem and let me know your thoughts.

Hi Paul,

sorry I'm a bit late to thank you for your comment, I've been up and down to the hospital for various blood tests and scans before Friday's 5th chemo.

I'm just glad I had a quiet time last weekend to write this poem. I'm happy you found it to be a a fine tribute to October which is all I could ask for. Will celebrate quietly in my own way with a bit of art work in those Bohemian colours with some mandalas.

Many thanks for your lovely thoughts Paul.

Lovely to read a new one from you, Jenny, and you have absolutely caught the Dance to perfection. I'm very definitely Team Autumn, for pretty much all the reasons you describe here. This poem is a real joy.

Hope all goes well with the Chemo. We'll be thinking of you. x

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your lovely comment airyfairy. Firstly it's getting myself ready for the next chemo, then getting chores out of the way, followed by the chemo itself, then the brain fog and tiredness which I'm experiencing at the moment, but after a good night's sleep I've managed to wake up a bit...the tablets don't help either and leave me kind of bloated with constipation, but at least I haven't got the needles in the stomach anymore, so that's one more problem my partner doesn't have to contend with for five evenings.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the lovely comment and for taking the time to let me know your thoughts.

Jenny.

Hello Di,

it was such a mad rush to get to the hospital last friday, as I had a phone call at 7pm the evening before telling me to get to the hospital at 8am for another blood test as they weren't sure about my last two blood tests. Had such a lot of problems, due to the car wouldn't start, then we called a taxi and there was problems with traffic. But thankfully I managed to get to the hospital five minutes late which was okay. But I ran from the entrance down the hallway to the Willows where I have the chemo and was so out of breath I couldn't speak properly, it was so embarrassing.

Finally I had my blood test and half an hour later it came back fine...thank goodness. I managed to pick up a good book which I read during my chemo and had a lovely nurse see to my chemo, she was exactly what I needed to get through the day.

The recovery has left me with fatigue and bloating with all the tablets, and the usual brain fog, but I'm glad of the rest after all the running around back and fourth from the hospital, which gives me time to recuperate and hopefully the car will be fine again.

I'm sorry this message has taken so long to type, as you can imagine I have to prepare for each chemo as I know I'm going to be so out of it, but I'm doing okay and trying to keep the momentum going of being positive.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, they do me the power of good and mean a lot.

Jenny. xxx

That does sound like an eventful journey to have your chemo!!! What a to-do :0) I am so glad they are getting a little easier, though, and that you have had more good sleep! It was reassuring to hear you had a kind nurse to help you through, and the taxi driver, too. I'm not surprised you were stressed out getting there, EVERYBODY would be! Thank you for telling of your experience :0) It is so lovely to hear from you

take care of yourself

Thank you so much for your kind words queen beatle, that's such a kind comment. I was so taken with the I P last week, just couldn't resist writing this poem, as autumn is one of my favourite times of the year when it's cooled down after such a hot summer and everything is starting to look fresh again...glad you could see it too.

Take care.

Jenny.
