The second law of thermodynamics applied

I, while investigating the
efficiency of steam engines,
accidentally stumbled upon
the ending of the universe –
THE HEAT DEATH - resulting from
a state of maximum entropy
(dS > 0);
where d is measuring change
and S represents entropy,
which must always be increasing.
applied to my life this equation
illuminates its messy state:
recent alcoholic; redundant,
after twenty years of rising;
marriage spent, dry, not a word shared
from October to December;
a new year’s birth beckoning joyless.
ringed purely for the children
our hearts separate, screams contained
but ravaged the scars surface, exposed
ruthlessly stamped by time’s brutal march
A state of maximum entropy
Disorder relentless increasing

Welcome to ABCTales bhi, and thank you for this poem - the last two lines sum up just about everything right now. I look forward to reading more from you!

Welcome!
Yes! Welcome to Abc! Maybe we'll see some real science for a change.

Entropy
Entropy would mean things just get more chaotic and will not order arrange or regroup ever again by itself with the system just getting more and more disordered. As you say the property is in the laws of thermodynamics. Just remember there are other and different definitions . .. .
Although if recurrence theorems apply physical states must repeat in finite time, given enough time! Sounds rather like contradiction. Of course it must depend on assumptions and interpretations.
And also I don't really see how the universe (as a closed system) Must have a Maximum entropy, can't it just keep on increasing (be unbounded)? No problem with the logic? I don't know.
As far as your personal and domestic problems go maybe go for the recurrence option though you will wait for very long. Very long indeed. Not such a good idea actually because then you sit with the same mess all over again.
Welcome to Abc! Have a great week and wonderful Christmas!

Disorder in life comes so
Disorder in life comes so easy in the world as it now is, as we irritate each other, and peace making seems humanly so complex. and impossible. Only the God who came as a human Saviour can help us mend fences.
It's the same with all the universe, although an open system, any energy arriving couldn't have brought about the order and increase of complex information required, so evolution and chance are a non-starter! Again, only a God could create such complex, and beautiful order. Rhiannon
