Above, in 10 minutes!

Walk five minutes past the houses, over the road
and past the mown hayfield, up the hill,
past the view of Titterstone Clee hill northwards of the town,
til can look out west over piles of drying hay
(lovely moist smell of cut hay)
and round to the view of near hills south,
and east over the town.
It is said that these fields are to be built on,
– at least we should still have our views!

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
such beautiful fields, and what a stunning view you have. It always strikes me as so sad when they decide to build on land that radiates the countryside of our past. It will result in more buildings, which will then need more roads, where there will be emissions of toxic fumes.
You describe clearly my feelings in your poem. I love the photos too.
Jenny.

sadness
sadness ".. at least we should still have our views! " I don't know about that, doubt it. Too many people in the world and getting more, all faster.
Beautifyul photos, melancholy.
Enjoy while you can & Nolan

Wonderful views, and the
Wonderful views, and the colour of that hayfield is glorious. I'm glad you'll keep your views despite the building, and I hope a good part of what's built will be affordable for local people to buy/rent, with proper infrastructure (schools, shops etc). Thank you for sharing your beautiful outlook Rhiannon!

Yes, sacred places like these
Yes, sacred places like these. Ordinary and wide, but full of memory. I felt like I was walking it with you. I hope the view stays.

Yes, I'd say you're very fortunate
I'm afraid of heights, myself, but I believe the climb is well worth it in cases like these!

Haha I know, it's not
Haha I know, it's not technically a mountain. Still - funny how I'm such an eerie, suspense-loving writer, but I’ve got a major fear of heights.
Apparently I’m all about climbing emotional cliffs, not literal ones

your top photo is GORGEOUS!
your top photo is GORGEOUS! Thank you for sharing your wonderful walk, I hope, too, that you are not built round and keep your peace and space. It seems a big problem, the building homes without health services or schools, far from supermarkets and stations; so different from the old way, where dwellings gathered round a water source, which might have brought the church, and then a forge would come. As Insert says, hope if there are new homes they are affordable and not poor quality, and not big posh ones only people from cities can afford
your describing the smell of cut hay, and your beautiful photo, give such an intimate feeling, I really enjoyed reading and seeing, thank you
