That all-important molecule!

Clustering in clouds that shade,
then through the air conveyed
as welcome showers
their droplets raining
drenching, draining
–‘life-blood’ of the soil –
its life, and ours sustaining:
thirst,
and life-destroying-fire
quenching.

Very appropriate words in your poem Rhiannon. We're in much need of rain where I live, haven't had a good downpour for ages.

A very nice response to the IP Rhiannon, thank you. I don't know the specific smell of rain on cut grass, but the lovely smell you get from hot, dry earth after rain is called petrichor (quite a new word I think!)

The importance of rain keeps going up as global warming bites. I marvel at the process of rain formation. One of the glories of living on this planet. A succinct and poignant vignette, Rhiannon. Very nicely done.

Good poem Rhiannon "as welcome showers" but who is to say one molecule is more important than another?
Did they say 75% of the human body consists of water?
Keep well! Tom
