Southwest

August in Andalusia is very hot. There's no point in attempting any hyperbolic description to convey how hot it gets. Every summer we would travel north, northeast, northwest anywhere to escape the heat - for at least a fortnight. If we went to the right place, it would be cool, but not wet. For a lot of years, Andalusia did feel like home. Image is of Galicia, destination for just one of our escapist excursions, but a picture of Cantabria, Asturias or Navarre would have done: source PXHere

Guiris

This is some time before 2011, when I rescued the Hard drive from a kaput komputer, before chucking the rest in the bin. Around 2016 I bought a hard-drive docking station; there are now two old hard drives docked. Sometimes I look back at old stuff, luckily I don't post it all. Guiri is an insult, pretty much, in Andalucia. It used to mean Guardia Civil when they couldn't serve in their home town. Now it means any stranger/foreigner/ex-pat. There are, or used to be, both of these pubs at either end of Alhaurin El Grande's main street. Images: google maps.
