Resting Place

Like owl soaring into the wind where
clouds or shadows are unpretentious,
there's satisfaction derived from being
wise for those natural simple pleasures;
like the magic of ballgowns on those apple
blossom trees...or sweet grass springing
from soft soil where sheep nestle by brook,
with freedom to reverie in pure tranquility;
and frolicsome new spring lambs play free.
If I could daydream in that drowsy pasture,
hear lilting – gurgling sound from flowing
stream, or distant warbling from some far
off tree meandering through the air faintly;
this would be a therapeutic remedy for me,
do not weep now, for the keepers of death
come without grief, just bind my fleshy form
to a willow tree, let my soul lace with each
rippling rise and fall as I take my last breath,
for then I'll have seen reflection of this glorious
sky and earth that is my home and place of birth.

I do ke the phrase ballgowns
I do ke the phrase ballgowns on those apple blossom trees., especially after delighting in them and trying to photograph them a couple of days ago.
A series of lovely reminescences to meditate on on the relaxing beauty of sight and sound in our experienced countryside. Yes, relaxing in illness or death, though thought of the even better to come offered by grace would be even more strengthening, surely! Rhiannon

The connection to all that is
The connection to all that is around us is so evident in the poem and the desire to be part of that so strong. Wonderful poem to read and reread and enjoy the different threads that it pursues and also as a monument to those that we love.
