Lovely poem. I spent quite a bit of time up there last year, wandering lonely as a deviant, and you've captured the energy of the landscape beautifully.

I LOVE this poem,Jenny. How
I LOVE this poem,Jenny. How far you travel - from beside a cobweb, like a symbol of stillness and fragility, to a distant hill where "copse of strong trees stand" ( I love that you put strong in there, too) All brought about by you listening to the wind, which unites you and the trees and the crow. You are a true poet. I don't know what to put in this comment to explain how your poem makes me feel THANKYOU

You convey the feeling of
You convey the feeling of spaciousness out in the fresh air and up on the ridge with the far views of the lowlands all aorund. I too liked the reference to the world under the tall grass, where a child so easily is entranced by the insects, and it reminds me of one of the series of the Borrowers walking through the giant grass or crop. These days the commercial crops seem to all have very short stems. Rhiannon

I really like this.
I really like this.
I particularly like your description of what happens when you open the window. Sometimes it does feel that by opening a window the whole of what is going on outside drifts in to stir up the stillness and change the atmosphere of the room.
The Ridgeway is a lovely place to go. I walked a lot there when I lived in Chippenham and Devizes.
