After the Blizzard

Frozen in the ground,
I found the bones
of a forgotten road.
Where it was so hard
to dig, under scentless
layers of pristine snow.
An unspoilt drift.
Soft crystal curves.
Why spoil it now, when
there is so much light
and tracks are covered?
All is quiet.
A beautiful white painting,
broken with black wires
across the sky,
so that we can talk.
Yet hidden in the snow
lies a spectrum of colour.
I watch your mouth move
but all I can hear,
are the sounds of space;
planetary notes from far away.
Now we are detached,
the energy is mine.
Searching for the edge.
Cold numbs desperate hands.
Buried beneath the fall,
the old curb, a known boundary.
After the blizzard,
the purity of the way back

Jane - I enjoyed this poem,
Jane - I enjoyed this poem, particularly the line 'Now we are detached/the energy is mine.' The ability to read or commune with nature seems to be key for the energy to shift. Enticing & intriguing! Very well done.

I long to ask you what this
I long to ask you what this is about, on the other hand, it keeps seeming to mean different things when I read it, so knowing might make it smaller. What is the same each time is how beautiful the images are eg "soft crystal curves"

I usually have to come back
I usually have to come back to your writing and check what others have said, too, as, like Di, I'm usually unsure of where it is going part of the way, though usually rereading clarifies more.
I like the connection flitting between the pure new scene, and the knowledge of what is temporarily beneath. I liked scentless layers of pristine snow.very much.
Was unsure what/who is speaking in the last but one verse, and is it someone near, or via those black lines in the sky, eg skype or zoom?? Rhiannon

Sounds of snow
A beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing it.
"all I can hear,
are the sounds of space;
planetary notes from far away" – for me this is a wonderful way of describing that softened atmosphere, the strange muted something you hear when stepping out on a snowy morning in the middle of nowhere. There is no sound as the snow falls, and yet there is...!
